There are no options for Russian offensive on Lyman in the near future - military expert Kovalenko
Despite the fact that Russia is accumulating forces and means in the Luhansk region, there are no prospects for an offensive in the near future due to the fire pressure by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko shared his opinions with Espreso.
"Russia continues to accumulate forces in the Svatove-Kreminna direction. The forces and means they are gathering there are quite serious. They could not launch offensive actions because the freezing of the soil should have been more extensive, because there are many swamps there. You have to advance through the forest and mud, so the weather has changed the whole story," he said.
According to Kovalenko, expectations also have an impact on the potential for an offensive.
"They are amassing, but they are in a static position and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are pressuring them every day with strikes - there is a constant fire impact. I can't say that they have a good enough chance to conduct an offensive in the direction of Lyman or, moreover, to reach the left bank of the Oskil River. I don't see any such options, and I don't think they have enough resources to do so," the expert summarized.
