The UN announces possibility of agreement on export of Russian ammonia through Odesa

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths believes that soon they can reach an agreement on the export of Russian ammonia through pipeline leading to Odesa

Reuters reports.

"I think we're quite close, we're edging towards it this week

I think both sides and we at the UN also recognize the value. It's essential", Griffiths said.

He is convinced that in a year, problems with food may begin, if export of fertilizers is not resumed.

According to the Under-Secretary-General of the UN, it is possible to resume export of ammonia within 1-2 weeks.

"Operation of ammonia pipeline from Russia through Ukraine to the ports of Odesa is well understood. It is not difficult, it can be started within a week or two", Griffiths said.
