The Russian Federation planned to create "people's republics" in the west of Ukraine: Ukrainians were recruited for this
The Kremlin planned to create "people's republics" in the western regions of Ukraine. To do this, the Russians recruited Ukrainians and created special groups
This was reported in the Security Service of Ukraine, reports Espreso.West.
One of the group members agreed to cooperate with the investigation. According to him, the group began work to overthrow the constitutional order in the summer of 2021.
The man was recruited by a retired invader intelligence officer - the organizer of the "scheme". He suggested creating a new democracy in Ukraine, and if the current government "does not resign", then overthrow it by force.
To seize power, the group had to recruit 500 militants. "It is desirable that these were people from among the former military personnel, especially those who fought in the ATO", the man says, adding that his task was not only to find 500 “volunteers”, but also to provide them with weapons.
At the same time, the implementation of the plan was supposed to coincide with the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, but thanks to the work of the SSU, the network was exposed, and its participants were detained in early March. The special service detained the organizer and key persons in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytsky regions.
One of the accomplices admitted his guilt and testified to the organizer. The materials have been sent to the court.
