"The right to veto cannot be the right to kill": Get Russia out of UN movement creates petition against Russia's membership

The petition appeared on the Change.org website.

“We have a historic chance to put an end to the biggest deception in the history of international politics - the illegal presence of the Russian Federation in the UN. To expel Russia from the UN and the Security Council! The right to veto cannot be the right to kill!” the statement reads.

The organization called on António Guterres and the UN to provide documents certifying the basis of the Russian Federation's membership in the UN.

“If such documents are absent, we demand the termination of the Russian Federation's fictitious membership in the UN,” they said.

It is also noted that “the doors of the UN should be closed for the Russian Federation, because in order to join the UN, the Russian Federation, in accordance with Article 4 of the UN Charter, must stop the aggressive war in Ukraine and return to internationally recognized borders.”

“This would deprive Russia of the veto right in the UN, which blocks many peaceful solutions, and would restore peace and order in the international community,” the petition says.
