The Pentagon confirmed that the Russians fired Tochka-U at the train station in Kramatorsk
The missile attack from the Tochka U complex on the railway station in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, as a result of which more than fifty people were killed, was carried out precisely by the Russian military
This was stated by a senior official of the US Department of Defense at a closed briefing for journalists on April 8, Radio Liberty reports.
"Obviously, we did not buy into the Russians’ objection that they were not responsible for this missile strike. At first they claimed a successful strike, but then denied it, as the consequences were reported", the Pentagon said.
The department also noted that the Russian military is going to use the 18th motorized rifle division of the Russian Armed Forces to attack Kramatorsk.
"We can talk about one unit - the 18th motorized rifle division, which was formed in 2021. It consists of three motorized infantry regiments, as well as an armored regiment. According to our assessment, it is expected that they will be used where the railway station was attacked. We see the movement of units and the use of force in this zone", the Pentagon official said, adding that this is the main railway junction in eastern Ukraine, and therefore a very strategic place.
According to him, Russia is currently deploying its military units to the Russian cities of Belgorod and Valuyka with the aim of further offensive.
The Pentagon also added that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has already fired 1,500 missiles at Ukraine.
