Andriy Cherniak, representative of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, has stated that, according to the Ukrainian military intelligence, the probability of Russian invasion from the territory of Belarus in the coming weeks remains low

He shared his opinion in a comment to Radio Svoboda.

"There is a certain mechanism for assessing threats, there are certain markers by which we assess the likelihood of a particular action. We are constantly monitoring any changes in the situation in Belarus. Today, the military intelligence of Ukraine does not record any signs of the creation of a strike group on the territory of Belarus. The Russian army in Belarus launches strikes on peaceful cities and civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, conducts training and prepares mobilized personnel. Then these mobilized servicemen are deployed to the combat zone. Talks about a possible invasion of Ukraine by Belarus are an attempt to draw our troops away from the combat zone," said the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

In addition, according to Andriy Cherniak, the military intelligence of Ukraine monitors what is happening in Belarus due to the presence of the Russian military there.

"We have to conduct intelligence in Belarus, we do not hide it. In case of invasion, the invading forces will be destroyed," the representative of the military intelligence of Ukraine concluded.

  • On January 16, joint air and tactical training of aviation units of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia, which are part of the aviation component of the regional grouping of troops (forces), started.
  • On January 17, the head of the Rivne Regional Aviation Administration Koval said that one of the training flights of Russia and Belarus could become a non-training flight.
