"Symbol of courage, friendship, support for Ukraine": Zelenskyy, Duda open Alley of Courage in Kyiv
The Alley of Courage will feature the names of politicians and other representatives of partner countries that have furnished Ukraine with meaningful support since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion
This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
According to the message, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Polish President Andrzej Duda opened the Alley of Courage in Kyiv, where the true friends of Ukraine will be celebrated. The Alley was located on Constitution Square.
"The Alley was created on the initiative of the Head of the Ukrainian State for the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's independence. The place was not chosen by chance, because it was on Constitution Square opposite the Verkhovna Rada that modern independent Ukraine was born", the press service wrote.
It is noted that the Alley will feature the names of political leaders and other representatives of partner countries, which have provided Ukraine with important support since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia.
Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland, became the first foreign leader to be honored on the Alley of Courage.
"Today, in the presence of the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, I want to open the Alley of Courage. His name will always be on this Alley. It is a symbol of courage, a symbol of friendship, and support for Ukraine when it is really needed", Zelenskyy said.
It is also noted that Andrzej Duda played a particularly important role in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities in the first days of Russia's full-scale aggression.
"He (the president of Poland, - Ed.) arrived in war-torn Ukraine, called Russia's actions an unprecedented violation of international law, and emphasized that by this the Russian Federation excludes itself from the international community", it is noted.
Poland became one of the first EU countries to become a new home for millions of forced migrants from Ukraine. The Polish government and the Sejm have simplified the procedures for crossing the border and the subsequent inclusion of Ukrainians into the European community as much as possible.
