Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson hold meeting
On Wednesday, February 15, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson arrived in the Ukrainian capital with a visit. Together with President Zelenskyy, they discussed the importance of starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU under Sweden's EU presidency
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the information on Telegram.
"Sweden holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of this year, so a significant part of our talks today was devoted to pan-European issues. Together with the Swedish presidency, we must provide everything necessary to start negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU this year," Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine also thanked Kristersson for the defense assistance from Sweden, which has recently reached the amount of about USD 1 billion.
He also noted that Sweden is one of the top 5 suppliers of critical equipment for the restoration of the Ukrainian energy sector after Russian strikes.
"I am really pleased that the blue and yellow - Ukraine and Sweden - are defending humanity, freedom and Europe together. Together, we will win," the head of state concluded.
Earlier, Zelenskyy announced that Ulf Kristersson had arrived in Ukraine.
“Today I welcome Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson to Ukraine. Ukraine and Sweden stand together in defense of humanity, freedom and Europe. Together we will be victorious,” the president wrote.

Sweden’s Defense Minister Pål Johnson confirmed that he had received a request from Ukraine for the delivery of fighter jets, but there are restrictions on such assistance.
