Striking deep into Russian territory will boost Russia's desire to end war – General Kryvonos
Serhiy Kryvonos, General of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, First Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2016-2019), former Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, believes that Russia can be stopped by Ukraine’s strong response in the form of striking targets on Russian territory
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Air defense is not omnipotent, the most important thing is to locate it in a right way to protect our facilities. The number one task of air defense is to use radar reconnaissance to detect objects flying in our direction at long range. The response time is another issue. To stop the enemy we should use our own resources to speed up the production of a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles with a powerful explosive load to start bombing Russia at least 500-800 kilometers inland. When we start systematically practicing bombing on the territory of the Russian Federation with our weapons, it will sufficiently accelerate Russia' desire to end the war," the general said.
Serhiy Kryvonos added that Ukraine conducting single, targeted strikes on Russian territory with a small number of drones does not stop Russia.
"But an adequate response, in terms of the number of hits on their targets, can stop the enemy. Therefore, we need to increase our capabilities in several areas as quickly as possible. The first is our own production, and the second is the diplomatic front, so that our allies provide us with long-range weapons. And the third is to put pressure on our American partners to get the Lend-Lease to work as soon as possible in the volume we expected, but none of this has been achieved yet," Krivonos said.
