State's incompetent actions are all that small and large businesses complain about, except for the war - Zhevago

The state cannot create the conditions for business to develop - they don't listen to and talk to competent people

Investor and entrepreneur Kostyantyn Zhevago shared his opinion with Espreso.

"The main problem is the incompetent actions of the state. When the state says beautiful words but does the opposite, does not listen, does not encourage competent people, and does not engage with them. When we lack purchasing power in the country, it is a result of the state's inability to create conditions for business development, where businesses themselves generate this purchasing power. It happens due to higher wages and increased taxes. Yes, today we face unpredictability due to military actions. This is precisely the time when the state should consolidate all its capabilities to provide maximum support to businesses, rather than creating regulatory confusion and making it difficult for businesses to understand the direction we are moving in," he said.

Zhevago noted that there is currently an increasing pressure from law enforcement agencies on businesses in Ukraine.

"This is the primary concern raised by non-oligarchic businesses when they approach the president. Not to mention large businesses that everyone inexplicably labels as oligarchs. Not all of them are oligarchs; there are important entrepreneurs who have built large businesses that are equivalent to the so-called oligarchic business today. We need to address this issue in our country, but not through laws targeting oligarchs. Instead, we should strengthen the capabilities of the Antimonopoly Committee, improve legislation, and enhance the activities of law enforcement agencies. I am 100% convinced that besides the fact that we are under martial law, the rest of the responsibility lies solely with the state. The intensified pressure from law enforcement agencies, non-refunded VAT - everything that both small and large businesses complain about is a result of the incompetent actions of the state and incompetent officials," summarized the entrepreneur.
