Specific 'Finlandization' of Russia
Finland's decision to officially join NATO on April 4 has a number of components that are worth paying attention to
Firstly, it demonstrates NATO's ability to respond quickly to emerging challenges in the world. After all, Finland and Sweden were neutral countries during the Cold War. But after the start of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, they decided to formalize their warm relations with the Alliance, which quickly responded.
“The land border between NATO and Russia will almost double. And this shows that Russia has spat in its own soup.”
Secondly, the land border between NATO and Russia will almost double. And this shows that Russia has spat in its own soup. It turns out that the nuclear power is increasing the threat to itself from the military-political bloc (which Russia calls hostile) – and is practically being put under a direct attack on Putin's hometown. After all, St. Petersburg is only 70 kilometers from the Russian-Finnish border.
Thirdly, everything that is happening should be a lesson for Ukraine, whose Euro-Atlantic path began in July 1997, when the Charter on a Distinctive Partnership between Ukraine and NATO was signed. And our path to the Alliance has been going on, I would say, for an obscenely long time. And it is still unknown when it will end.

It should be noted that Sweden has lost momentum on its way to NATO because of Turkey's position. Perhaps also because of Hungary's position in the future. And this should also be taken into account in our own Euro-Atlantic integration.
Yes, NATO is expanding. Yes, this is a holiday primarily for Finland, which will become the 31st member of the North Atlantic Alliance. But for now, the holiday is not on our street. Rather, it is an important lesson for us.
