Specialists started repairing Chernobyl power grids - IAEA

The power grids of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant are being repaired by technicians. One section has already been restored.

This was reported by the press service of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Work began on March 10th. One section was repaired, but off-site power was still out, indicating damage elsewhere.

"Repair work will continue despite the difficult situation outside the NPP site", IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said.

Since March 9, Chernobyl has been powered by emergency diesel generators.  Additional fuel was also delivered to the facility.
