Spain to transfer EUR 4.5 million to support Ukraine's energy system
Spain will transfer EUR 4.5 million to Ukraine's Energy Support Fund, established by the European Commission to help restore the infrastructure destroyed by Russian bombing
Spain's Vice President and the Minister of Ecological Transition Teresa Ribera said this at a meeting with Ukraine's Ambassador Serhii Pohoreltsev.
According to her, the funds will be allocated from the ministry's budget for 2022. They will be transferred to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund as part of Spain's permanent support of the Ukrainian people. The European Commission together with the EU’s ENTSO-E energy community created the Ukraine Energy Support Fund amid constant shelling of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure by Russia.
“Likewise, Vice President Ribera has promised to transfer to the main Spanish energy companies the request made by Ambassador Pohoreltsev, so that the companies in the sector directly donate equipment and material destined for Ukraine,” the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition said in a statement.
