SpaceX says it can no longer finance Starlink services in Ukraine - CNN
SpaceX has informed the Pentagon that it may stop funding the Starlink satellite communications services in Ukraine
This is stated in SpaceX's letter to the Pentagon, reports CNN
Musk's company said in a letter that it can no longer continue to fund the Starlink service as it was before.
We are not in a position to further donate terminals to Ukraine, or fund the existing terminals for an indefinite period of time," SpaceX's government sales director wrote in the letter.
In addition, the letter also asks the Pentagon to take over funding for Ukraine's government and military use of the Starlink system, which, according to SpaceX, will cost more than $120 million by the end of the year and could cost close to $400 million over the next 12 months.
Among the documents SpaceX sent to the Pentagon is a direct request made to Musk in July by the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy for nearly 8,000 more Starlink terminals.
