Soledar isn’t under Russia’s control - spokesman of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Eastern Group

He said this in a comment to Suspilne.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Eastern Defense Forces denied the information spread by Russia.
"Russian forces say that it is under their control. It is not true. Wait for details in the report of the General Staff," emphasized Cherevatyi.

British intelligence believes that Russian forces are trying to capture Soledar in the Donetsk region to surround the nearby town of Bakhmut.

On January 10, the enemy tried to attack Soledar from three sides, CEO of Defense Express military expert group Serhiy Zgurets said on Espreso TV channel.

On the same day, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Serhiy Cherevatyi said that the Russians fired 86 times at Soledar from artillery during the day.

The Institute for the Study of War said that Russian troops did not capture the whole of Soledar, despite several false statements that the city had fallen and that Bakhmut was under threat of imminent encirclement. Even the possible capture of Soledar will not mean that Bakhmut will be surrounded.

In the morning report on January 11, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that over the past day, the Ukrainian military repelled Russia’s attacks in one settlement of the Kharkiv region, one of the Luhansk region and eleven of the Donetsk region. In the Bakhmut direction of the Donetsk region, attacks were registered in nine settlements of the Donetsk region.
