Situation in Bakhmut consistently difficult - Land Forces Commander Syrskyi
The situation in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, remains consistently difficult. Russian troops are suffering huge losses but continue to launch offensives
This was stated by the Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi who visited Ukrainian positions in the Bakhmut direction.
According to him, the most intense phase of the battle for Bakhmut is currently underway.
"The situation is consistently difficult. The enemy is suffering significant losses in human resources, weapons and military equipment, but continues to conduct offensive actions. Our defenders are heroically holding back the enemy invasion in extremely difficult conditions and leave the enemy no chance to realize their plans," said Syrskyi.
He noted that the command is considering all possible scenarios in this area.
"The defense of Bakhmut is driven by military necessity and is based on the competent use of the city's defensive capabilities, built fortifications and equipped firing positions. The courage and heroism of our soldiers, combined with the skillful use of weapons and maneuvering of forces and means, allowed us to defend the city beyond all deadlines and forecasts. We are considering all possible scenarios and will act adequately to the current situation," the general emphasized.
