Shoigu names number of Russian military personnel killed in Ukraine for first time since March
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that 5,937 Russian soldiers have died since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Shoigu said this during an address to the citizens of Russia on September 21, Russian media reports.
According to him, the Russian Federation allegedly lost 5,937 soldiers killed in Ukraine.
"Our losses today are 5,937 dead," Shoigu said.
At the same time, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since February 24, Ukrainians have destroyed 55,110 occupiers.
Shoigu named the number of dead Russians for the first time since March 2022. Then he announced that 1,351 Russian soldiers had died.
Shoigu also claims that Ukraine allegedly lost 61,207 soldiers killed and 49,368 wounded.
"At the initial stage, the Armed Forces of Ukraine represented about 201-202 thousand people, during this time more than 100 thousand of their losses, with 61,207 dead and 49,368 wounded," Shoigu said.
On August 22, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, said that about 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers died in the war with Russia.
