German Chancellor Olaf Scholz believes that the European anti-missile and anti-aircraft defense system, a so-called Sky Shield will be developed in 5 years
This was reported by the press service of the federal Chancellor, citing his interview with the Funke Media Group.
Olaf Scholz reminded that in addition to Germany, 14 other countries agreed to participate in the Sky Shield project.
"I hope that the protective shield will be created in the next five years. The government is now talking to the manufacturers of various systems to get ready for concrete decisions," Scholz said.
According to him, after Russia's attack on Ukraine, Germany is strengthening its defense capabilities.
"Putin's attack on Ukraine is a turning point, I made it clear on February 27. As a result, we are strengthening our defense capabilities. Germany will permanently spend 2% of GDP on the Bundeswehr. We have created a special fund of 100 billion euros to meet the necessary expenses," Scholz said.
