Scholz congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day, promises weapons
Germany firmly stands with Ukraine and pledges to continue supply weapons: from self-propelled howitzers to air defense systems
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this in his greetings on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine.
"Dear Ukrainian men and women! Your country will overcome the dark shadow of war. Because your country is strong and courageous. And because you have friends in Europe and all over the world. We are proud to have the honor of being among your friends today and in our common European future," Scholz said.
According to him, Germany will continue to supply weapons, from self-propelled howitzers to air defense systems. Scholz assured that the training of the Ukrainian military on the most modern European weapons in Germany will continue.
In addition, the Chancellor of Germany noted that German hospitals will continue to accept wounded Ukrainian soldiers for treatment.
Germany and its partners will continue the policy of sanctions, help export Ukrainian grain, rebuild destroyed cities and villages, and provide financial support to Ukraine.
In particular, an international conference on reconstruction will be convened in Berlin in October, at which the directions of Ukraine's development will be determined.
Scholz noted that Germany has already accepted almost a million Ukrainian refugees. Borders will remain open for those who need protection.
Olaf Scholz concluded the greeting with the words "Glory to Ukraine!".
