Former official exposed in attempt to illegally export Mi-8 сomponents from Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kropyvnytskyi exposed a former pre-trial detention center official suspected of attempting to illegally export components for Mi-8 helicopters from Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine reported the information.
"Security Service counterintelligence uncovered in the Kirovohrad region a scheme of illegal export of dual-use goods subject to export control. These were auxiliary gas turbine engines and navigation equipment for Mi-8 multipurpose helicopters," the statement reads.
To search for potential buyers, he placed ads on specialized websites; to transport the goods to foreign customers, the suspect planned to use international cargo transportation services. To conceal the illegal exports, the suspect tried to enter false information in the shipping declarations.
Based on the collected evidence, the offender was served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Art. 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control).
An investigation is underway to establish the sources of origin and the final recipient of the helicopter equipment.
