In the next six months, it is unlikely that Russia will face the economic blockade it truly deserves, as neither the U.S. nor Europe show the determination that allies once displayed against the Hitler's coalition

Serhii Kuzan, head of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, shared his opinions on Espreso TV.

“Currently, Americans blame Europeans, and Europeans blame Americans for insufficient pressure on Russia. Both sides give plenty of reasons to speak of certain bias and partiality in their economic ties with Russia,” Kuzan said.

According to the head of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, in reality, neither the U.S. nor Europe show willingness to block Russia as was done against the Hitlerite coalition during World War II. Unfortunately, that willingness does not exist.

“What we hear in individual messages is not a systemic solution. Of course, it is good for us if Europeans stop importing energy resources from Russia. But, unfortunately, in the near future, over the next six months, we will not see the level of blockade against Russia that it deserves,” Kuzan emphasized.

  • U.S. President Donald Trump, during his speech at the UN General Assembly, stressed that NATO countries buying Russian oil and gas should stop purchasing energy resources from Russia.
  • Ukrainian MP Iryna Herashchenko noted that despite the war, Russian oil continues to be transported through Ukraine to European countries via the Druzhba pipeline. She urged the Verkhovna Rada to urgently consider banning the transit of Russian oil through Ukraine.
