Putin’s regime loses nearly €400 billion due to EU sanctions — French FM Barrot
The regime of Russian leader Vladimir Putin has lost about €400 billion due to European sanctions, which is equivalent to three years of funding for the war against Ukraine
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated this before the start of the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Brussels, according to Ukrinform.
“Today we will decide to extend the sanctions regime, which has deprived Vladimir Putin’s Russia of €400 billion, equivalent to three years of funding for its military efforts,” he announced.
Barrot added that these restrictions have proven effective, which is why they “will be maintained and extended.”
According to the French minister, the European Union also plans to sanction three Russians responsible for cyberattacks aimed at destabilizing Estonia.
At the same time, he noted that following the Council of Ministers meeting, the EU will announce sanctions against representatives of the Georgian government, as well as a new aid package for Moldova.
- Later, European diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas announced that on January 27, EU foreign ministers, during a meeting in Brussels in the format of the EU Council, decided to extend sanctions against Russia.
