EU, U.S. must coordinate sanctions to boost pressure on Russia - Zelenskyy aide
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak stated that the sanctions discussed in the Senate are "very effective" and should be coordinated with EU partners
He said this in an interview with the American TV channel Newsmax TV, according to Suspilne.
“The sanctions we discussed today in the Senate are very effective. They must be coordinated with our EU partners, and if the new sanctions packages from the EU and U.S. are introduced simultaneously, it will truly put pressure on Russia,” Yermak emphasized.
He noted that it’s important to seek new “real and effective” sanctions against Russia. According to Yermak, such restrictions do work, although they require time. As an example, he mentioned Senator Graham’s legislative initiative on sanctions.
“Senator Graham’s legislative proposal concerns oil, the energy sector, and banking — these are truly painful and truly effective sanctions. Putin will only stop and agree to negotiations when he realizes that continuing the war will come at a high cost,” Yermak added.
