This is stated in the press release of the EU Council.
According to the report, the sanctions, first introduced in 2014, have been significantly expanded since February 2022 after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The sanctions package currently includes:
- Restrictions on trade, finance, technology, and dual-use goods;
- A ban on the import or transfer by sea of crude oil and certain petroleum products from Russia to the EU;
- De-SWIFT for several Russian banks;
- Suspension of broadcasting and broadcasting licenses in the EU for several Kremlin-backed disinformation media outlets.
The EU has also introduced measures to counter sanctions circumvention.
"As long as the illegal actions by the Russian Federation continue to violate the prohibition on the use of force, which is a serious breach of obligations under international law, it is appropriate to maintain in force all the measures imposed by the EU and to take additional measures, if necessary," the EU Council said in a press release.
- On June 24, the EU Council adopted the 14th package of sanctions against Russia, targeting important sectors of the Russian economy, such as energy, finance, and trade.
