Russia’s propaganda defends attack on civilian bus in Sumy
Russian propagandists are trying to justify the strike on a civilian bus in the Sumy region on May 17 by spreading false claims that it was a “route bus without license plates” near Tyotkino in the Kursk region
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
To justify the strike on a civilian bus in the Sumy region, Russian propaganda outlets are spreading a false story that it was a “bus without license plates” spotted near Tyotkino in the Kursk region.
“In reality, Russian forces committed a blatant war crime by hitting a civilian bus near Bilopillya in the Sumy region with a Lancet kamikaze drone. The attack killed nine civilians and injured seven others, three of them seriously. This was a targeted strike on unarmed people who posed no threat,” the report says.
The Center notes that Russia uses such messaging as part of its information tactics to evade responsibility for civilian deaths and to distort the facts in order to sow doubt.
