Russia’s political goal is to reach Dnipropetrovsk’s borders, – Ukrainian Army Reserve Chief
Ivan Tymochko, head of the Ukrainian Ground Forces Reserve Council, said the Kremlin is ordering its troops to push toward the borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region
He shared this information on Espreso TV.
"Right now, we know that while the number of combat clashes has decreased in the Lyman sector, the enemy’s attacks have become longer in duration. Today, the enemy’s objective is to move toward the Dnipropetrovsk region. This is more of a political goal for the Russia. It’s not a full-scale military operation but rather an attempt to show the presence of Russian soldiers in Dnipropetrovsk territory. They continue to push this narrative in the information space to lay claim to these areas. This is a classic Russian tactic—trying to stake a claim to an entire region even when they don’t control a quarter of it," Tymochko explained.
The serviceman noted that Ukraine’s Defense Forces are assessing all risks and taking preventive measures. According to him, the enemy will not succeed in making significant advances toward the borders of Dnipropetrovsk.
"Russian forces will try to push this narrative around May 9 and attempt to make it a reality. Will it be effective? We all understand that the Defense Forces are aware of and assessing all risks to our country. Preventive measures are already underway. Our troops will keep the situation as tightly under control as possible. Most likely, the enemy will only be able to send a few sabotage and reconnaissance groups to take some photos and nothing more," he added.
- On April 30, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that the Russian occupation army is attempting to reach the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region, despite statements of "readiness for ceasefire" during the May holidays.
