
Russia’s mass drone attack on Ukraine injures 47 in Kharkiv, kills one in Dnipro
On the evening of Tuesday, April 29, the Russian army launched groups of attack drones against Ukraine, injuring people in Kharkiv and killing a person in Dnipro

Attack on Kharkiv
On the night of April 29, Russian drones targeted several districts of Kharkiv, including Shevchenkivskyi, Slobidskyi, Saltivskyi, and Kyiv districts. One of the Shahed drones reportedly fell near a medical facility in Saltivskyi.
By 11:23 p.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed six strikes across the city, damaging high-rise buildings, private homes, and civilian infrastructure. Preliminary reports indicated 20 civilians were injured, with some in serious condition. Among the wounded was a 5-year-old girl who suffered an acute stress reaction.
Head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, also confirmed the injuries and said all emergency services were responding on site.
As of 11:40 p.m., the number of victims had risen to 30. After midnight, Mayor Terekhov reported that the number of injured had reached 39. Syniehubov later clarified that the victims included a 16-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, and a 24-year-old pregnant woman. Four people were hospitalized in city hospitals.
By morning, the head of the Regional Military Administration announced that the number of victims from the evening strike on Kharkiv had increased to 45. According to him, 31 people experienced acute stress reactions, 14 sustained injuries of varying severity, and 5 were hospitalized.
“Thirteen emergency medical teams were engaged to help the victims in Kharkiv,” added Oleh Syniehubov.
According to the Kharkiv City Council, at least 77 residential buildings in Kyivskyi, Slobidskyi and Saltivskyi districts were damaged as a result of the massive attack by Russian UAVs.
“A total of 1,588 windows and 205 balcony panes were smashed, and 14 roofs and structural elements of eight buildings were damaged,” the statement said.
As of 10:17 a.m., Ihor Terekhov reported that the number of victims in Kharkiv had increased to 47.
Strike on Dnipro
At 11:31 p.m., Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, reported that several fires had broken out in the city due to a massive drone attack, damaging private homes.
“We know of one fatality,” Lysak said.
Additionally, one person was injured in the attack, according to Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov.
"After another massive attack, we now have at least five private houses damaged. We will continue inspecting the buildings near the strike sites throughout the night. Utilities have already begun working, and we remain in constant contact with rescuers and police," he wrote at 1:38 a.m. "We know one person was injured in the attack. We hope this number won't increase. Unfortunately, one person has died."
In the morning, Serhiy Lysak clarified that a 53-year-old man had been killed in the Russian attack on Dnipro, and a 78-year-old local resident had been wounded.
Lysak stated that most of the destruction occurred in the private sector. He also reported that rescuers had extinguished fires in parts of the regional center.
“One local house was destroyed, several others were damaged. An enterprise, a funeral home, and a car were also damaged,” Lysak added.
Air defense operating in Kyiv region
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of April 30, a UAV was detected in the Kyiv region's airspace. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces targeted the drone.
An air alert was issued in the Kyiv region at 7:30 a.m.
