Russia's elite infantry suffers heavy losses in Vuhledar direction - UK intelligence
In the Donetsk region, near Vuhledar, Russian marines have suffered serious losses due to the difficulty of the tactical tasks assigned to their command
UK intelligence reported this and published a satellite image from the Vuhledar area: it shows destroyed Russian equipment, which was probably part of the 155th Marine Brigade.
This brigade is considered an elite troop in the ranks of the Russian army, but, unlike the airborne infantry, the 155th Brigade was not deployed in Ukraine as a single group. In particular, the brigade was tasked with some of the most difficult tactical missions - the military suffered extremely heavy losses. At the same time, the Russian command decided to fill the gap with mobilized soldiers.
“This lack of experience is almost certainly exacerbating Russian officers’ tendency to micromanage, which in turn reduces operational agility. There is a realistic possibility that degraded NI units will again be committed to new assaults near Vuhledar,” the report says.
