This was reported by the head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
At 2:05 p.m. the body of the second victim had been found under the rubble.
"While dismantling the rubble of the museum building in Kupyansk, which was hit by a Russian S-300 missile this morning, rescuers found the body of a second woman," Syniehubov wrote.
Earlier it was reported that 10 civilians were injured as a result of a Russian S-300 missile strike on the very center of Kupyansk. Three of them were hospitalized, 7 had minor injuries and were treated on the spot, 2 people were trapped under the rubble, one of them died.
"All units of the State Emergency Service and emergency medical service are working on the site to clear the rubble and help people as soon as possible. The probability of new missile attacks on Kharkiv and the region's settlements remains quite high. Do not ignore air alarms and stay in shelters," he said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also responded to the shelling of the city.
"Kupyansk, city center, local history museum. The terrorist country is doing everything to destroy us completely. Our history, our culture, our people. Killing Ukrainians with absolutely barbaric methods. We have no right to forget about it for a single second. We must and will respond!" he wrote.
The President clarified that he was aware of the victims. "Eternal memory to the deceased and condolences to the relatives. All those guilty of these war crimes will definitely be brought to justice and it will be merciless."
The attack, which involved a missile strike from the Russian S-300, resulted in 10 civilian injuries, with three people requiring hospitalization, seven individuals receiving on-site treatment for minor injuries, and two individuals remaining trapped under rubble.
“Emergency services and medical professionals are working diligently to assist those affected. There is still a high risk of further rocket attacks on Kharkiv city and surrounding areas. Remain vigilant and take shelter when necessary,” the message said.
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressed his condemnation of the attack, stating that the Russian aggressors are attempting to eradicate Ukrainian history, culture, and people through barbaric methods. He offered condolences to the family of the museum employee who lost their life in the attack and vowed that those responsible for these war crimes will face merciless consequences.
Syniehubov previously announced the attack on Kupyansk's center at 9:25 am, reporting five civilian injuries and at least two individuals trapped under rubble at the time.
The head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, confirmed that the Russians had used the S-300 in the attack.
