Russians forbid locals in Kherson region to leave their homes, close shops and hospitals – AFU General Staff

Russian troops are putting pressure on the local population of the Kakhovka district, Kherson region: they forbade them to leave their homes for the whole day, closed shops and hospitals, mocked pensioners

This was reported by the AFU General Staff in the morning briefing on April 4.

It is noted that the Russian occupiers continue to put pressure on the local population in certain settlements of the Kakhovka district of the Kherson region.

On April 2, people were forbidden to leave their homes and go out. During the day, all public places were closed: shopping centers, shops, hospitals, etc.

In some villages, pensioners continue to suffer from abuse. To receive pensions, you have to stand in line, and not everyone receives enough money. But if you pay a certain fee, receiving social benefits becomes more accessible.

Russia attacked in 4 directions, while the AFU repulse 69 attacks

Russia is concentrating its main efforts on launching offensives in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. During April 3, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled more than 69 Russian attacks. The battles for the districts of Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka remain the fiercest.

Russia launches 3 missile and 21 airstrikes against Ukraine 

Over the past day, Russian troops launched 3 missile attacks and 21 air strikes, as well as 33 MLRS attacks.

The threat of further missile and air strikes on Ukraine remains high.

Situation by directions

Northern and northeastern border with Belarus and Russia: the operational situation has not changed significantly.

Belarus’ top political leadership continues to support Russian aggression, providing its airspace and territory for Russian use. The Russian Armed Forces continue their drills at the Belarusian training grounds. At the same time, no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected. 

During the day, Russian troops shelled 3 settlements in the Sumy region, as well as 6 settlements in the Kharkiv region.

Kupiansk direction: 10 settlements in the Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire.

Lyman direction: during the day, Russian troops launched unsuccessful offensives in 4 areas. Ten settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions were hit by artillery fire.

Bakhmut direction: Russian troops do not stop the assault on the city of Bakhmut. However, Ukrainian defenders courageously hold the settlement. At the same time, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensives in two settlements in the Donetsk region. During the day, Ukrainian forces repelled 32 enemy attacks. More than 12 settlements of the Donetsk region were shelled by Russians.

Avdiivka and Marinka directions: Russian troops unsuccessfully launched offensives near 6 settlements, fired at 9 more settlements.

Vuhledar direction: Russian troops actively used UAVs to adjust artillery fire, shelled 6 settlements in the Donetsk region.

Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions: Russian troops did not conduct active operations, improving defensive lines and positions instead. They shelled populated areas next to the line of military confrontation. Among them are 7 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as Antonivka in the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

AFU shoot down a drone and hit Russian military positions 

During the day, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 5 strikes on Russian personnel and equipment concentrations. An enemy reconnaissance UAV was also shot down. 

Units of Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit one area of concentrations of Russian manpower.

 
  • Earlier it was reported that in the temporarily occupied Kherson region, Russians are compiling lists of volunteers who are ready to "evacuate" to Crimea or Russia, women and children will be the first to do that.
