Up to 90% of Ukrainian POWs in Russia suffer physical, psychological torture - Prosecutor General
Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said that 90% of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia endure various kinds of torture, inhuman treatment and violence
He said this during a workshop for journalists on international law and armed conflicts on June 8, Ukrinform reports.
According to Ukraine's Prosecutor General, the attitude to Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian occupation forces was revealed during the first so-called screening, an informal conversation with prisoners of war who are now returning from captivity.
“It shows that up to 90% of our people suffer from various types of torture, inhuman treatment, physical, sexual and psychological violence,” Kostin said.
The Prosecutor General emphasized that the system created by Russia is based on torture and inhuman treatment on the territory of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
