UN Security Council to meet on Russia's crimes against POWs at Ukraine's request

On Monday, January 13, at the initiative of Ukraine, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Russia's crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians

Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha shared the information.

The meeting will be held according to the Arria formula.

“We will use every international fora to draw attention to our people in Russian captivity, protect their rights, and demand their release,” Sybiha said.

  • Back on December 21, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsya, pointed out that Russia had launched missile strikes against Ukraine at least 18 times before convening a meeting of the UN Security Council.
