Ukraine records at least 5,974 instances of Russian cluster munition use

The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported the information.

According to the report, at least 5,974 instances of the use of these munitions have been documented, including attacks on Chernihiv, Kramatorsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and other cities, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, including children, and large-scale destruction of infrastructure.

"Russian perpetrators deliberately and systematically use cluster munitions to maximize civilian casualties and destruction. This is an element of Moscow’s broader policy of terror against the Ukrainian people," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

"The international community must also recognize that Russia is training its accomplices — Iran and North Korea — in these criminal methods of warfare," they added.

The ministry noted that such actions are also a gross violation of the norms of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on partners for a decisive response: the introduction of tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, particularly in the defense, energy, and banking sectors, as well as increased military support for Ukraine—supplying air defense systems, ammunition, and long-range weapons. According to the authorities, this is critically important for protecting the civilian population and achieving a just peace.
