
Russia’s attack on Kharkiv kills one, injures over 100
On the morning of Good Friday, April 18, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Kharkiv, injuring more than 100 people and killing one
This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, around 5:10 a.m. on April 18, the occupying Russian army launched a missile strike on Kharkiv. The Sloboda District Prosecutor's Office of the city initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code, which addresses war crimes resulting in loss of life.
As of 4:57 p.m., the number of casualties stood at 102, including 8 children. One man was confirmed dead.
The attack caused significant damage, including to several apartment buildings, four educational institutions, and 25 vehicles.
“It has been preliminarily established that the Russian army used three Iskander cruise missiles in the city,” the statement noted.
At 7:13 p.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov updated that the number of casualties had risen to 112.
The President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that rescue operation was still underway in Kharkiv after the strike, according to preliminary information, it was an Iskander cruise missile.
He also called on allies, especially the United States, to provide Patriot systems and missiles to protect against Russian missile attacks, as this is the necessary protection that any country deserves.
