Russian missile strikes administrative building in Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih, killing three people
On December 6, Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, hitting an administrative building
The head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, confirmed the strike.
Serhii Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that the building was damaged and authorities were working to verify the details. He later confirmed that an emergency rescue operation was underway at the site.
"Sadly, there are both dead and wounded," Vilkul said. A 6-year-old child is among the injured and is now in the hospital, with Lysak noting the child’s condition as moderate. The attack also claimed the life of one man.
By 6:14 p.m., Lysak updated the figures, stating 13 people were injured, 5 of them hospitalized. "The victims have cuts, bruises, and shrapnel wounds. Everyone is receiving the necessary care," he wrote.
Later, Lysak confirmed that one more person had died in the hospital, bringing the death toll to two. Rescuers are still working at the scene.
At 5:15 p.m, Vilkul said that the number of victims had increased to 19.
"Men aged 40 and 69 were killed. Our condolences to their families and friends... We know about 19 victims. There are 8 wounded in the hospital, including a 6-year-old boy. Their condition is moderate. Doctors are providing all necessary assistance to the wounded. The fate of one more person is still unknown, an emergency rescue operation is underway," he wrote.
According to preliminary information, six apartment buildings, five private houses, and cars were damaged as a result of the enemy strike.
On the morning of December 7, it became known that the number of victims of the Russian strike the day before had increased in Kryvyi Rih. The State Emergency Service said that at night, rescuers had removed the body of a third person from the rubble.
"In total, 3 people were killed and 17 were injured, including 1 child. Rescue operations have been completed," the rescuers added.
Later, Vilkul said that Monday, December 9, would be declared a day of mourning in Kryvyi Rih.
