Russian drone strike on Ukraine's Sumy region kills family with two children

According to the regional power distribution company Chernihivoblenergo, the Bobrovytsia district came under Russian strike this morning. An energy infrastructure facility was damaged.

Over 26,000 consumers in the city of Bobrovytsia and nearby villages were left without electricity. Power restoration has begun, but will proceed with regard to safety conditions.

Kyiv region

According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, air defense operated in the region overnight, downing Russian targets.

“Unfortunately, as a result of the Russian attack in Brovary district, a woman born in 1950 was injured. She suffered an acute stress reaction and a hypertensive crisis. All necessary medical assistance was provided on the spot,” the statement said.

A private house, outbuildings, and a car were damaged.

Sumy region

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that last night a Russian strike drone hit a residential house in the village of Chernechchyna, Krasnopillia community.

“A couple with two small children lived in this house. Sadly, none of them survived,” he said.

Rescuers recovered the bodies of four victims from the rubble – the parents and their two sons, aged 6 and 4.

“This is a terrible and irreparable loss for the entire community and the region. I express my sincere condolences to the family’s relatives and loved ones,” Hryhorov added.
