
Russian attack on energy workers' vehicle in Sumy region kills one, injures several
On the morning of Monday, May 12, Russian troops hit an energy workers' service vehicle with a drone. As a result, a man was killed and several people were injured
The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, reported this.
"A Russian UAV attacked the energy workers' vehicle in the Sumy community. Preliminary, one person was killed," he said.
Later, the Sumy city council clarified that as a result of the Russian drone hitting the service vehicle of the Sumyoblenergo utility's line service team, three more people were injured.
Ukraine's Ministry of Energy reported that the attack resulted in the death of 44-year-old Oleksandr Fedchenko, who was inside the vehicle at the time of the strike.
He was a driver for the transport and logistics service of Sumyoblenergo, having worked at the company for 22 years.
In 2024, Oleksandr was awarded a letter of appreciation from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine for his conscientious performance of duties in dangerous border areas during restoration work following Russian attacks.
