Russian air strike on Sumy region kills two, including a 6-year-old
On August 8, Russian troops launched an air strike on the civilian infrastructure of the Yunakivka community, Sumy region, killing two people
Prosecutor's Office of the Sumy region reported the information.
The victims were brothers, one of them was only 6 years old.
"According to the investigation, on August 8, 2024, at about 11:00 a.m., using methods of warfare prohibited by international law, the enemy launched an air strike on the civilian infrastructure of the Yunakivka community of the Sumy district. As a result of the attack, 6-year-old and 23-year-old brothers were killed," the statement said.
Proceedings have been opened on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The Yunakivka community borders Russia’s Kursk region and suffers from Russian troops’ shelling.

On August 7, a mandatory evacuation was announced for the population of 23 settlements in the Sumy region.
