Consequences of the attack in Lviv

At 1:19 p.m, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, announced the completion of emergency rescue operations at the sites of the Russian attack.

According to him, seven people were killed. Among them are two children - 7 and 14 years old. Also, 64 people were injured, including eight children.

Rescuers saved 12 people. In total, more than 150 rescuers and 38 units of special equipment were involved in the response.

Earlier, Kozytskyi wrote that residential buildings in Lviv were damaged as a result of the Russian attack. All relevant services were deployed to the scene.

Initial reports from Lviv Mayor Sadovyi indicate the following:

  • Residential buildings near the main station are on fire.
  • Two schools, Arnika and School No. 17, will not start classes today; students are advised to stay home.
  • Numerous windows are shattered in the areas of Konovalets, Brativ Mikhnovskykh, and Melnyk streets.
  • The authorities are currently verifying information about potential casualties.

Later, Sadovyi reported 6 injured as a result of the attack on the city, "Among them is a 10-year-old boy. Doctors are providing the necessary assistance.”

As of 7 a.m., there were 17 victims, the mayor said.

"Two children aged 10 and 15, 15 adults were hospitalized in the city's hospitals. Five patients are in serious condition," he wrote.

At 07:23 a.m. Kozytskyi reported the first killed person.

"According to preliminary information, as of this hour, 19 people have been injured in Lviv as a result of the enemy attack. One person, unfortunately, died," said the head of the Regional Military Administration.

A few minutes later, he said that there were already two killed.

Mayor Sadovyi: Doctors reported the death of a woman and a man. The deceased was 50 years old, she worked as a nurse-midwife at the 5th polyclinic in Lviv.

Kozytskyi: The number of victims increased to 23.

"There are five children among the victims. What is known as of now: one 15-year-old child is in a moderate condition, four have light injuries," said the head of the Regional Military Administration.

Later he added that there were three dead: "Preliminary, it is a 14-year-old girl." Kozytskyi added that the number of injured had increased to 25.

Sadovyi: As of 8 a.m., more than 35 people are receiving medical aid. Several of them are in serious condition, including 5 children.

"There are a lot of damages - more than 50 buildings. Most of them are the heart of our city - the historical heritage. We already know for sure that we will have to relocate people from six houses. Two schools will not work today because many windows have been blown out. Two of our medical facilities were also damaged. The State Emergency Service is working, all utilities are working, and the rubble is being cleared," he said.

The Lviv Regional Military Administration reported five killed. The number of victims increased to 38.

"The fifth person is killed. It is a child. It's a girl. 9 years old," Kozytskyi wrote.

At 9 a.m., Sadovyi reported seven killed. Kozytskyi added that there were three children among them.

Mayor Sadovyi commented on the situation on Espreso TV.

"They are currently dismantling the rubble, and there may be someone else there. There is no final information. As of today, we have 7 killed, including 3 children. 35 people have sought medical assistance, three of them are children. 6 people are now in surgery, their condition is difficult," he said.

The mayor added that two districts of Lviv were attacked - Zaliznychnyi and Frankivskyi.

"More than 70 houses were damaged. It is already clear that we are resettling people from 6 houses and providing temporary shelter. As soon as the emergency services finish their work, we will start restoring what we can. The situation is complicated by the fact that most of the houses are historical heritage, the historic district of Lviv, and the procedures are more complicated, it is much harder to do. But we have no other options, we will do everything we have to, we will rebuild. Two schools were also attacked, as well as two medical institutions," Sadovyi summarized.

According to Natalia Matolinets, medical director of the First Medical Association of Lviv, who spoke to Espreso, there are 45 victims in hospitals now: 22 patients at St. Luke's Hospital, 7 children at St. Nicholas Hospital, and 16 patients at St. Panteleimon Hospital.

She noted that 10 patients are in critical condition, of whom 6 are currently undergoing surgery for various types of chest injuries. Also, one patient has an arterial injury, and there are patients with head injuries.

According to the mayor of Lviv, as of 10:25 a.m., 47 people have sought medical assistance.

The head of the Regional Military Administration noted that among the patients in hospitals are seven children with moderate injuries. Also, at least seven adults are in serious condition, doctors are fighting for their lives.

Colonel Mykola Humeniuk, deputy head of the Main Directorate for Emergency Response, told Espreso that the Russian missile strike in Lviv caused many fires and destruction in various locations.

More than 130 personnel and 30 units of fire and rescue and special equipment were engaged in the rescue operations.

According to Humeniuk, the depth of the rubble is very deep at one of the locations. The rescuers have about 6 meters to clear, but it is a very limited area, so they are working in a confined space. There may still be people there.

Fire and rescue units have so far rescued 12 people. Rescue operations are ongoing.

Lviv mayor said that a mother and three daughters were killed in the Russian attack on the city.

"After today's attack, only the man in this photo survived. His wife Yevhenia and their three daughters - Yaryna, Daryna, and Emilia - were killed in their own home," Sadovyi wrote.

The oldest daughter, Yaryna Bazylevych, was 21 years old. She worked in the office of Lviv - European Youth Capital 2025.

"In the center of Europe, Russia is exterminating entire families of Ukrainians. Russians are killing our children, our future," the mayor emphasized.
