Over 9,600 missiles, 14,000 drones launched at Ukraine by Russia in full-scale war
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have launched over 9,600 missiles and nearly 14,000 attack drones against Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense forces have successfully destroyed more than 2,400 missiles and 9,200 drones
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, shared this information during the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
Syrskyi also reported that of the 9,627 Russian missiles launched, 5,197 were aimed at civilian targets in Ukraine.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that Russia is using artillery ammunition at three times the rate of the Ukrainian military. Between August 6 and 14, Russian forces fired 400,630 artillery rounds, averaging 44,500 rounds per day. In comparison, Ukrainian forces used 131,460 rounds, averaging around 14,600 per day.
“The enemy continues to maintain a high intensity of artillery fire on our positions in eastern and southern Ukraine, currently firing up to 45,000 rounds of ammunition daily,” Syrskyi added.
He mentioned that from July to August 2024, the ratio of artillery usage was 3:1, an improvement from January to May 2024, when the ratio was 7:1 (about 70,000 rounds fired by Russia for every 10,000 by Ukraine).
Syrskyi also pointed out that from October to December 2023, Russia was firing over 30,000 artillery rounds per day, while Ukraine used up to 10,000. In August and September 2023, Russia’s daily usage was around 20,000 rounds, compared to about 13,000 for Ukraine.
- Early Sunday, August 18, Russian forces launched a barrage of drones and missiles at the Ukrainian capital. Air defense units successfully intercepted the Russian threats before they reached Kyiv. However, debris caused destruction in the surrounding region.
