Russian Volunteer Corps announces death of Daniil Maznik, who led assault on Novaya Tavolzhanka

The Russian Volunteer Corps has reported the death of commander Daniil Maznik, call sign "Shayba," who led the assault on Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation

This was reported by the Russian Volunteer Corps on Telegram.

It is noted that the fighter died on June 3, having accepted his last battle. He was the one who took the first prisoner in Novaya Tavolzhanka and commanded the successful assault on the village.

"Daniil was with us almost from the very beginning and went all the way, from the first days of formation, when the RDC was just a small gang, to the moment of formation into a full-fledged unit, and personally did a lot for this transformation," the unit said in a statement.

It also mentions that Daniil gave 6 years of his life to the Russian army and fought against it, knowing "all the injustice and rot of this machine" from the inside.

The farewell to the soldier will take place on June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.

What is happening in the Belgorod region

On May 22, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) announced the liberation of the settlements of Kozynka and Gora Podol in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation and the entry of their advanced units into the city of Graivorona.

On June 2, the RDC and the Freedom of Russia Legion announced the second phase of the raid in the Belgorod region. This time, Russian partisans focused on the town of Shebekino.

On June 3, the "legionnaires" accused Putin's troops of "chaotic shelling of the Belgorod region" and offered the residents of the region to evacuate deeper into Ukraine.

"The border zone in Belgorod region is rapidly turning into a gray zone (on the part of the Russian Federation): abandoned houses, abandoned residents, complete absence of local administration and police representatives... In this suddenly formed gray zone, the RDC is trying to gain a foothold in order to restore order," the RDC informed on June 3.

On the morning of June 4, volunteers reported fighting on the outskirts of Shebekino.

On the afternoon of June 4, the RDC and the Legion recorded a video with two prisoners in which they addressed the regional head Vyacheslav Gladkov. They asked him to come and take the prisoners of the Putin-controlled army.

Gladkov agreed to meet with them to pick up the prisoners, but ultimately did not show up. The Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion announced their intention to transfer the Russian prisoners to the Ukrainian exchange fund.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, believes that if Ukraine receives requests for a humanitarian corridor for residents of Belgorod region, our country will consider them.

On Wednesday, June 7, members of the Russian Freedom Legion announced that they consider Crimea to be a temporarily occupied part of Ukraine.

Also on June 7, the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps said that they had been in control of Novaya Tavolzhanka in Belgorod Oblast for 7 days.
