Russian troops use tear gas, Ukrainian Armed Forces repel 62 attacks - General Staff

Despite Russia's attempts to attack and the use of non-lethal aerosol tear gas grenades, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued to destroy the Russian troops and repelled more than 62 attacks over the past day

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a morning briefing on March 28.

Russia  is focusing its main efforts on conducting offensive operations on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. The most fierce fighting is taking place for Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka. 

Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 62 Russian attacks in these areas over the past day.

Ukraine’s Defense Forces shot down 5 drones, hit an artillery unit and an ammunition depot

On March 27, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 9 strikes on the areas of occupiers' personnel concentration, and one strike on an anti-aircraft missile system.

Ukrainian troops also shot down 5 enemy reconnaissance UAVs of various types.

Missile and artillery units hit 3 control points, an area of enemy manpower concentration, an artillery unit at a firing position, an ammunition depot, a fuel and lubricants depot, and two other important Russian targets.

Russia launched 24 air strikes and 12 missile strikes against Ukraine over the past day

On March 27, Russia carried out 24 air and 12 missile strikes, fired 55 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

The Russian army continues to ignore the laws and customs of war and uses terror tactics against civilians in Ukraine. On March 27, as a result of a rocket attack on the infrastructure of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, civilians were injured and some were killed. Multistory and private houses were damaged. 

A civilian facility in the town of Beryslav, Kherson region, was damaged by Russian air strike.

The possibility of further missile and air strikes remains high throughout Ukraine.

Situation in different directions

The operational situation in the Northern and Northeastern Ukrainian borders remains unchanged, with no signs of offensive groups forming.

Combat training activities of the Russian Armed Forces continue on the territory of Belarus. 

Over the past day, the Russian forces fired at the areas of one settlement in Chernihiv region; 10 settlements in Sumy region, as well as 4 settlements in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk and Lyman directions, the Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of 6 localities over the past day. 

Russian troops fired artillery in the vicinity of 7 settlements in Kharkiv region, 4 in Luhansk region, and 4 in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the occupying forces continue to assault the city of Bakhmut, as well as the areas of other 4 settlements.

They fired at 11 localities in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka and Marinka directions, the Russian enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the direction of 6 localities.

The Russian troops used non-lethal aerosol tear gas grenades in the area of 4 settlements. 

They shelled  more than 10 settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Vuhledar direction, the Russian forces fired in the area of 4 settlements in Donetsk region over the past day.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian troops are on the defensive. 

They fired at 3 settlements in Donetsk region; 6 in Zaporizhzhia region, 2 in Kherson region, and the city of Kherson.

Russian occupiers block access to some settlements of Donetsk and Kherson regions for citizens without local registration

The Russian invaders continue to strengthen security measures in the temporarily occupied territories. Recently, there has been a tendency to impose restrictions on the free movement of Ukrainian citizens between settlements. 

In particular, in Horlivka district of Donetsk region, as well as in Kakhovka district of Kherson region, it is impossible to get to certain settlements without local registration.
