Russian troops try to dislodge Ukrainian forces from position in Lyman sector, 30 combat clashes take place - AFU General Staff

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in a morning report on July 7.

Russian troops attack in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Over the past day, 30 combat clashes took place there.

The General Staff clarifies that on July 6, Russia fired 11, not 10, Kalibr missiles at Ukraine

According to updated information, over the past day, Russia launched 11 Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukraine, 7 of which were destroyed by air defense and aviation. Three Kalibr missiles hit the city of Lviv and 1 missile hit a private house in the Cherkasy region. 

As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks on Lviv, over 35 houses, over 250 apartments, 10 dormitories, an orphanage, 2 higher education institutions and other civilian infrastructure were damaged and destroyed. There are casualties.

In addition, Russian troops launched 57 air strikes, 4 of which were carried out by Iranian-made Shahed strike UAVs. All 4 “kamikaze” drones were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense. Russian forces also launched 67 MLRS attacks. In particular, the Russian army shelled civilian settlements in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kherson regions.

Last night, on July 7, Russian troops struck with Iranian Shahed-type strike UAVs in Ukraine. Information on the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.

The threat of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains very high.

The situation in different regions of Ukraine

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian forces launched an air strike on a settlement in the Kharkiv region. They also launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 15 settlements across Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

• In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the defense line.Russians are trying to advance near Novoselivske, Luhansk region. Ukrainian soldiers are holding their ground and have successfully repelled all enemy attacks. Russian troops also shelled 6 settlements across the Kharkiv region.
• In the Lyman direction, during the day, with the support of aviation, Russian forces attempted to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions in the area west of Karmazynivka, Luhansk region, but were unsuccessful. Furthermore, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 5 settlements and shelled over 15 settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions with artillery.
• In the Bakhmut direction, under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled Russian attacks near Berkhivka, Donetsk region. At the same time, they conduct offensive operations south and north of the city of Bakhmut, consolidating their positions.Russian troops also launched an air strike near a settlement and shelled over 20 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.
• In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defense forces hold back the Russian offensive near Pervomaiske, Donetsk region. Meanwhile, Russian troops launched air strikes near Avdiivka and Novokalynove. They also shelled over 15 settlements with artillery. 
• In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near the town of Marinka. Russian troops launched an air strike near Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region, and shelled over 10 more settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.
• In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful offensive near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.They also launched an air strike on Vuhledar and shelled over 15 other settlements. 
• In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian forces’ priority is preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops.Russian troops also launched air strikes on 7 settlements and shelled over 30 settlements across Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions. They are actively consolidating their positions, and carrying out counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy 6 artillery pieces at firing positions and 3 electronic warfare stations

Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian defense forces carried out 8 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel and 1 on an anti-aircraft missile system.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck 1 concentration of Russian manpower, weapons and military equipment, 1 ammunition depot, 6 artillery pieces at firing positions and 3 electronic warfare stations.
