Roman Mrachko, the head of Kherson city military administration, also provided details about the morning shelling.
He explained that Russian troops shelled Kherson's Korabelnyi district around 09:35, with trolleybus #9 on Naftovykiv Street being hit by the Russian artillery.
The deceased senior police officer was in close proximity to the vehicle during the attack.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs later released information about the police officer who lost his life in Kherson. The officer was identified as 49-year-old Andriy Tarchynskyi.
It is worth noting that the police officer had previously served as a peacekeeper in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Kosovo. After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, he volunteered to join the Kherson special police patrol unit and was subsequently involved in the Ilovaisk operation.
