Russian forces launch rocket attack on Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region, damaging over 100 buildings
On January 9, invading Russian forces shelled Ochakiv, damaging hospital, high-rise buildings and private residential buildings. As of 5:40 pm, 10 people are known to be injured, including a two-year-old child
The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Hanna Zamazeyeva, reported this.
“It is known that 10 people have been injured by shelling in Ochakiv, including a 2-year-old child,” she wrote at 5:39 pm.
Vitaliy Kim, head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported the update on Telegram.
"Ochakiv: there are reports about 8 wounded persons, 3 of them were transported to Mykolaiv for treatment. The wounded are still arriving," Kim wrote at 4:52 p.m.
The head of Mykolaiv Regional Council Hanna Zamazeyeva added that 180 windows and 22 doors were damaged in the hospital of Ochakiv as a result of the shelling.
Earlier, the police chief of Mykolaiv region Serhiy Shaikhet reported about three wounded.
"Preliminary, three people were wounded. In total, as a result of the shelling, about 50 objects (houses, apartments...) were damaged," he wrote at 3:40 p.m.
Hanna Zamazeyeva also informed that many infrastructure facilities were damaged in Ochakiv. And the blast wave felt by the residents of the regional center is probably the result of the shelling of Ochakiv.
Earlier on January 9, Mykolaiv regional governor Vitaliy Kim, head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said that there were no victims on the territory of the hospital, but the building is heavily damaged.
Local Telegram channels reported sounds of explosions that could be heard in Mykolaiv. However, city’s mayor Oleksandr Senkevych informed, there were no explosions in Mykolaiv.
"Friends, there were no explosions on the territory of the city. We are waiting for detailed information from the military," he wrote at 3:10 p.m.
The day before, on January 8, at 12:54 p.m., Russian forces launched artillery strikes on the water area of the Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.
Air raid alert was not announced in the morning of January 9 in the Mykolaiv region.
In Mykolaiv’s Pervomaiskyi, Voznesenskyi and Bashtanskyi districts, day and night of January 9 passed relatively calmly.
