Russian troops shell Luhansk region with artillery, Ukraine's Armed Forces hit Russian reconnaissance group, forcing it into retreat
On July 29, invading Russian forces attacked the Luhansk region with artillery, tanks, aircraft, and mortars. Ukraine's Armed Forces hit their reconnaissance group, forcing Russian troops to retreat in 6 directions
This was announced by the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, on Telegram.
According to him, previously the Russians could launch massive offensives due to a significant advantage in artillery. Currently, HIMARS is still lacking for a Ukrainian counteroffensive, but due to the neutralization of ammunition warehouses, it is much more difficult for the occupiers to replenish their weapons reserves and maneuver. Serhii Haidai noted that over the past month, the Russians have not been advancing so rapidly and are only trying to storm Donetsk during July.
"One of these attempts was stopped yesterday near Verkhnokamyanske. Our fighters discovered the reconnaissance group in a timely manner, inflicted fire damage on it and forced it to retreat. The Russians also retreated in five other directions, from where they were trying to break through the defense of the Ukrainians", he emphasized.
However, the Russians continue to destroy the settlements of the Luhansk region with barrel and jet artillery.
"During July 29, they fired seven rockets on this part of the front, launched seven artillery attacks, one tank attack, as well as mortars. The enemy continues to use the advantage in aviation, having launched strikes on at least six more populated areas", Serhii Haidai noted.
