He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"In the Bakhmut direction, the main enemy attacks have been taking place at night recently. The enemy tries to advance at night so that our copters cannot detect them. The enemy is much more numerous than our servicemen. Russian troops are trying to get us out of our positions not by quality, but by quantity," noted Oropai.
According to him, Russian troops were short of ammunition in the time period before the New Year.
- Earlier, Reuters, citing sources in the White House, reported that Prigozhin intends to gain control over the salt and gypsum mines of Bakhmut.
- Later, Prigozhin explained why Russia needs Bakhmut. According to him, "the vicinity of Bakhmut is a complex of settlements that create a single defense system. This is a unique landscape, ravines and heights that are natural tunnels."
- Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War believe that Wagner PMC financier Yevgeny Prigozhin tried to justify the importance of the mines around Bakhmut and Soledar by saying that they have "unique and historic defenses" that act as a "network of underground cities".
