Russian troops push to break through Ukrainian positions: Rubizh brigade on Kupiansk, Siversk sectors
Danylo Borysenko, chief of intelligence of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division of Ukraine's Rubizh brigade, spoke about the situation in the Kupiansk and Siversk sectors
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“As of now, the area of responsibility of the Rubizh brigade remains unchanged, covering the Kupiansk and Siversk sectors. Over the past day, the Russians continued assault attempts, including one attempt near Hlushnykivka in the Kupiansk sector. The fighting was more intense in the Siversk sector, with five assault attempts mainly near Verkhnokamianske and Bilohorivka. Russian forces actively continue using aviation, dropping guided bombs on our and adjacent positions, as well as on towns and villages, anywhere they can reach. The heavy artillery barrage has somewhat eased; around 4,000 artillery strikes were recorded in the past day, compared to roughly 6,000 daily strikes in previous days. So, it has become a bit quieter, if you can say that about artillery,” he said.
Danylo Borysenko also noted that Russian forces continue to intensively use FPV drones. Over the past day, the Rubizh brigade recorded over 1,000 Russian drones in its area of responsibility.
“Russian invaders continue to actively deploy FPV drones — over a thousand flights were recorded. However, that number is slightly lower than usual. Typically, over 2,000 drones are identified daily. The Russians also continue to use small infantry group tactics, trying to break through gaps between our units, and to entrench in forested areas or in individual buildings on the outskirts of settlements,” the soldier said.
The Rubizh brigade is currently raising funds for fiber-optic drones to effectively counter Russian forces. The goal is 1 million UAH.

“The Rubizh brigade is currently raising funds for fiber-optic drones. These drones represent a specific branch of FPV development that allows operators to bypass enemy electronic warfare systems because they are controlled via a cable rather than radio waves, making them immune to jamming. This is especially critical when rapid response is needed, such as deploying a drone to strike a Russian assault group, while the enemy’s electronic warfare systems are operating at full capacity. In such situations, it’s often unclear which frequency to use to ensure the drone reaches its target. That’s exactly when fiber-optic drones are essential, they can fly through areas covered by enemy jamming systems. Of course, these drones have their specifics. They carry a smaller warhead because part of the payload is taken up by the cable reel. However, they offer a much higher guarantee of hitting the target. It’s crucial to have them and to have a sufficient supply so we can use them to the fullest when necessary,” Borysenko noted.
- Over the past day, May 14, 168 combat clashes were recorded along the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 74 Russian assaults.
