Russian troops don Ukrainian uniforms in attempted Klishchiivka assault — military expert Zgurets
Defense Express CEO and military expert Serhiy Zgurets says that Russian troops have disguised themselves as Ukrainians and tried to launch an assault on Klishchiivka
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Despite claims of liberation, the situation in Klishchiivka remains highly challenging. The enemy is actively engaged in counterattacks to regain control of positions recently liberated by our forces. Russian troops, disguised in Ukrainian uniforms, attempted to launch assaults in Klishchiivka," said the analyst.
Zgurets emphasized that Russia's attempts to retake these positions highlight their strategic significance and the necessity of establishing conditions to effectively block enemy forces in Bakhmut.
"This can be provided by cutting Russia’s supply lines and strengthening fire support if we move on from the railroad we have now reached, liberating Klishchiivka and Andriivka. The railroad that now runs to the east of these settlements is the current line of defense of the enemy. Further, I think that consolidating on this line and strengthening fire control will improve our ability to hold the enemy forces and "grind" their manpower and equipment in the area," added Zgurets.
- On September 17, the Ukrainian Defense Forces completely liberated Klishchiivka, south of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, but Russia still tried to capture the town.
- Oleksandr Borodin, a spokesman for the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, believes that after the liberation of the settlements around Bakhmut, Russian troops will be forced to retreat from the city itself, as there will be no point in holding it if its flanks fall.
