As can be seen from pictures dated August 12 and October 10, which were posted by Pittet, Russian soldiers restored trenches near Chongar checkpoint between Crimea and Kherson region and dug new ones.
Satellite photos also show new trenches in Armyansk district in northwestern part of Crimea.
According to investigator, Russian occupying forces also build positions a little further north. In particular, huge defensive trench was dug in Novotroitske. Such defensive positions can be seen throughout northern part of the peninsula.
"They are building a fortress", Pittet added.
